Install

Install Zimster 0.7.2, then check that your coding agent sees the package and skills you expect.

Choose a package

Version 0.7.2 ships five installable artifacts plus a checksum manifest:

  • Codex ZIP: full Codex marketplace plugin.
  • Claude ZIP: Claude plugin with agents, hooks, skills, and package helpers.
  • OpenAI skills ZIP: the 12 canonical skills with the helper runtime bundled inside using-zimster.
  • Portable ZIP: standards-based Agent Plugin package used by Grok and other compatible hosts.
  • npm tarball: primary npm package used by Pi and the OpenCode package path.

The release also includes zimster-0.7.2-SHA256SUMS.txt. GitHub and npm installs are available now. Host directories may lag behind the release.

Codex

Use the full Codex ZIP or clone the repository and register it as a Git/custom marketplace. Keep the marketplace and install commands pointed at the same checkout.

Start a fresh Codex session after installation. For 0.7.2, we installed the Codex ZIP in the stable CLI 0.147.0 and the desktop-managed 0.147.0-alpha.6.6 runtime. The standalone CLI also completed an authenticated smoke. That test did not establish the effective model or reasoning effort.

Claude Code

Use the Claude ZIP or the GitHub repository marketplace.

The Claude ZIP includes 12 skills, 4 agents, and one SessionStart hook. It validated and installed on Claude Code 2.1.226. The model-backed smoke stopped because the configured OAuth session had expired.

Grok

Extract the portable Agent Plugin ZIP or use a repository checkout.

Review the package before using --trust. The portable ZIP loaded on Grok 1.0.0 and completed an authenticated smoke. The observed model was Grok 4.6.

OpenCode

Use the primary npm package with .opencode/plugins/zimster.js and skills/ preserved at the same package root. For project use, extract or copy that package root into the project, or install the canonical skills under .agents/skills/.

OpenCode 1.18.18 discovered the npm package, adapter, and Zimster skills. The release check did not include a model-backed coding task.

Pi

The published zimster npm package is the Pi package.

pi install npm:zimsterpi list

Update with pi update npm:zimster and remove it with pi remove npm:zimster. Pi 0.84.1 loaded the 0.7.2 package. If Pi cannot enforce Zimster's two-agent limit, delegated work stays with the owner.

Kimi Code

The npm package and repository include .kimi-plugin/plugin.json. Install from Kimi Code's plugin UI:

The Kimi manifest and package structure validated. The Kimi CLI was not available for installation or live execution.

Skills-only installation

The OpenAI skills ZIP and portable ZIP contain the canonical skills and the bundled using-zimster helper runtime. From a full checkout or npm package, Zimster can synchronize the skills into a project:

If you copy skills manually, keep each skills/<name>/ directory intact, including the using-zimster/scripts/, config/, and templates/ support directories when present. Skills-only installs do not add host-specific agents or hooks.

Updates and removal

Replace or update the complete Zimster package for your host, then start a fresh session and confirm the loaded version or discovered skills. Use the host's normal uninstall command when removing Zimster, and leave unrelated host configuration alone.

For a Codex repository marketplace install, run codex plugin marketplace upgrade zimster, reinstall zimster@zimster, and check the version with codex plugin list in a fresh session.
